Summary
This enhancement extends the 'Available Now' functionality in packing so that packers can replace failed or expired items while packing, instead of cancelling or partially fulfilling the order. Previously, 'Available Now' was triggered only when fewer items were picked than ordered (short-pick scenarios) or if the order was updated in the later stages after picking before packing. If all items had been picked but some later failed or expired, the order could end up partially fulfilled or stuck in the packing state when partial fulfillment was disabled.
With this release, 'Available Now' now also covers:
- Orders where picked items expire between the Picked and Packing states.
- Orders where items are marked as failed during packing (e.g., due to damage).
As long as replacement inventory is available in the hub, packers can immediately pick the required quantity using 'Available Now' and continue processing the order end-to-end.
How It Works
Case 1 — Replacing Expired Items While Packing
All items for the order were picked earlier, but some quantities expired before packing. When packing begins:
- The system checks for expired picked quantities.
- An informational modal alerts the packer to the expired SKU and quantity.

- Upon acknowledgment, the system marks the quantity as failed.
- A second modal explains that the items can be replaced using 'Available Now' if inventory is available.

- The packer can:
- View item details including failed quantity and reason.

- Use 'Available Now' to pick replacement items.

- Continue processing the order with valid inventory.
- View item details including failed quantity and reason.
Case 2 — Replace Items Failed During Packing
Some units are identified as unusable (e.g., torn/damaged) while scanning during packing:
- The packer marks these items as failed with a reason.

- The system confirms the failure and enables 'Available Now' for the same quantity.

- The packer uses 'Available Now' to pick replacements immediately.

- The order continues with the replaced units.
- Full traceability is maintained through the 'View' option showing detailed failure logs.
Technical Details
- Module scope: Omniful WMS Packing.
- Previous behaviour: 'Available Now' was limited to short-pick or post-pick update scenarios.
- New behaviour: Expired or failed items during packing can now be replaced from hub inventory.
- Failure log: Side sheet shows quantity and reason for each failed SKU.
- Fulfilment impact: Prevents orders from being stuck or partially fulfilled when replacements exist.
