Summary
This document describes the TMS Trips Report, a tenant-specific operational report designed to provide a comprehensive trip-level view of all transportation trips executed within the Transportation Management System (TMS).
The Trips Report provides a consolidated trip-level operational view to support planning, monitoring, and performance analysis activities within TMS. It enables stakeholders to track trip lifecycle status, driver and vehicle assignment, capacity utilization, and key execution metrics from creation through completion.
The Trips Report allows teams to:
- Monitor trip lifecycle and execution status
- Track assigned drivers and vehicles
- Measure vehicle capacity utilization
- Analyze package completion, pending, and failed counts
- Evaluate trip efficiency using distance, duration, and completion percentage
- Identify ongoing, delayed, or underutilized trips in near real-time
By consolidating trip execution data into a single structured view, the report improves operational transparency and reduces the need to navigate multiple screens for performance monitoring.
How It Works?
The TMS Trips Report captures and presents data at the trip level, with each row representing a specific trip record generated during operations.
Workflow:
- Trips are created in TMS as part of shipment execution (for example, first mile, mid-mile, or last mile).
- As trips progress through different stages, relevant trip information is recorded in the system.
- The Trips Report consolidates this information into a single, structured view under the Reports section.
- Users can review key trip attributes such as trip identifiers, number of associated packages, execution status, and timing details.
- The report can be exported for offline analysis, reconciliation, or sharing with internal teams.
This ensures users have a reliable and up-to-date view of trip execution without impacting live operations.
Technical Details
The TMS Trips Report is built using existing trip and shipment data models and follows standard reporting principles to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Key Technical Highlights:
- Report Type: Operational Report
- Data Sources: Trip records and linked shipment data within TMS
- Data Granularity: Trip-level records
- Data Refresh: Data is updated every 8 hours through scheduled refresh cycles.
- Access Control: Controlled through user roles and report permissions in Settings
- Output Format: Tabular on-screen view with CSV export support
The report is read-only and does not modify any trip or shipment data. It is intended solely for monitoring, tracking, and analytical purposes.
